Popis: | Bis(4,4,6-trimethyl-1,3,2-dioxaphosphorinane-2-thione-2-thiolato)cobalt(II) complexes with nitrogen and phosphorus containing Lewis bases of the type, [Co(S2 )*Ln] (where L = pyridine, n = 2; L = 2-picoline, 3-picoline, triphenylphosphine, 2,2′-bipyridine, 1,10-phenanthroline; n = 1) were prepared by the addition of the Lewis base to an aqueous solution of CoCl2 · 6H2O followed by the addition of NH4S2 to yield a greenish-blue solution from which the adduct was extracted by addition of benzene These newly synthesized compounds were characterized by elemental analysis, IR and UV–Vis spectroscopy and magnetic measurements. The results for adducts with pyridine, 2,2′-bipyridine, 1,10-phenanthroline are consistent with distorted octahedral geometry around the central metal atom whereas those with 2-picoline, 3-picoline and triphenylphosphine are consistent with distorted trigonal bipyramidal geometry, as is confirmed by the single crystal X-ray crystal structures of [Co(S2 )2(2-CH3-NC5H4)] and [Co(S2 )2(3-CH3-NC5H4)]. |
