Despite the efficacy of verteporfin-based photodynamic therapy (PDT), laser photocoagulation, and various oral treatments in central serous chorioretinopathy, other treatment modalities have been developed and evaluated in order to optimize the treatment outcomes. This chapter encompasses risk factor identification and modification, intravitreal anti-VEGF agent injection, transpupillary thermotherapy, PDT without verteporfin (pseudo-PDT), intravitreal dobesilate injection, visual cycle suppression, and acupuncture. These interventions have been supported by encouraging case reports and small studies, but the long-term outcomes and safety, in particularly as compared to the more conventional treatment modalities, have yet to be determined. |
