Price asymmetric adjustment in Taiwan broiler industry

Popis:	The broiler industry is one of the most important livestock industries in Taiwan. The purpose of this paper is to figure out the price adjustment characteristics of broiler industry in Taiwan. The threshold autoregressive model (TAR) and Momentum-TAR (MTAR) are applied to verify the existence of asymmetry in price adjustment. Based on monthly data, it is found that the price adjustment process is dynamic and asymmetric. The threshold value of asymmetric price adjustment is not zero. A price stabilization policy should be adopted when a big negative shock occurred in Taiwan broiler industry.
