Popis: | Communication of information is essential to healthcare and the accessibility of such information is vital. The NHS needs to manage an enormous amount of data and computers are essential for that purpose. However, the computer must have the data (the clinical terms or medical language) in an appropriate format. Because of the absence historically of a single appropriately structured thesaurus of terms, computer users have developed their own data dictionaries and their data have become incompatible with each other-even in similar countries, in similar fields, and with similar systems. This greatly inhibits computer communication.
