Popis: Modern telecommunication systems require miniature antennas with multiband characteristics that support multiple wireless applications. This paper presents a convex pentagon shaped microstrip antenna that works at 1.8GHz with a return loss of −19 dB. The antenna is powered using proximity coupled feed method implemented in a multilayer substrate. The pentagon shaped microstrip antenna is converted in to a dual band antenna by applying fractal shape into the antenna geometry. Here durer pentagon fractal concept is used to develop dual band antenna which produces multiple resonance at 1.8 GHZ and 2.45 GHz. The antenna finds suitable for cellular communication and Bluetooth / RFID applications. Size reduction up to 25.56 % in terms of patch size is achieved in the proposed fractal antenna in comparison to pentagon patch antenna operating in the first resonant frequency band.
