Popis: | The water quality of a ferruginous borehole supply at Oyibi was investigated to identify the origin of the iron. The method of study involved a determination of some selected physico‐chemical parameters including iron, total alkalinity, free carbon dioxide and dissolved oxygen. From the study, iron from the formation origin could be distinguished from that of the pump parts and it was concluded that the high iron concentration in the groundwater originated from the corrosion of the pump parts by the groundwater which had low pH, low alkalinity and high free carbon dioxide. |
