Popis: Encouraging people to make environmentally conscious decisions is a key challenge. Different aspects of applied psychology – social psychology, behavioral economy and choice architecture – has already identified methods which can be used effectively in design processes to help people make certain decisions easier. Social norms, social identity, reciprocity, primed commitment and limiting options all proved to be reliable methods in influencing and “nudging”. On the other hand, empirical studies rarely focus on how different individual and external factors may influence the effectiveness of these methods. This project focuses on decisions regarding three environmental programs: reducing water usage (easy), reducing domestic waste (medium) and participating in community tree planting events (hard). These three programs were chosen based on a pilot study which assessed the perceived difficulty, efficiency and effortfulness of different environmental activities. The main goal of the project is to explore how different nudges change the perception of the programs.
