Popis:	The article describes the life and scientific way of eminent epidemiologist, academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine D. K. Zabolotnyi. In the article there is shown his contribution to the establishment and functioning of the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences, the impact of development of his predecessors and successors in the development of both the global epidemiology and microbial science and medicine.
