Popis: | Lymphocytes from human cord blood activated with 5 μg/ml concanavalin A synthesized DNA and were permissive for Herpes Simplex virus, but were unable to form infectious centers with Vesicular Stomatitis virus, which did not adsorb onto these lymphocytes. By contrast, lymphocyte populations obtained after growth with 200 μg/ml of lectin did not incorporate thymidine and were not permissive for Herpes Simplex virus. They, however, formed infectious centers with Vesicular Stomatitis virus as early as 10 h after cultivation with the high concentration of lectin. Formation of these infectious centers was abolished by puromycin but was resistant to treatment with cytosine arabinoside, colchicine or actinomycin D. These lymphocyte populations may represent lymphocytes arrested at an early stage of activation. |
