Popis: Cartesian Manipulators are still widely used in many application sectors, due to their relatively simple construction and easy controllability. In this work authors present a study concerning the revamping of an existing manipulator, in which it’s shown how an integrated mechatronic design affecting structure, actuation and drive system can produce an important increase in terms of performance with near to null costs. Existing manipulator is revamped in order to obtain a higher stiffness respect to static loads, higher accelerations and reduced working cycles with a attention to the assembly of electronic components using a conventional THT (Through Hole Technology) approach or more innovative solutions such as the so called “Press Fit” systems in which higher insertion forces are required. To further improve productivity of the machine, an innovative multi-tool head is introduced.
