A 20-year-old male with complex congenital heart disease and a dual chamber transvenous pacing system for complete heart block presented with pulsating chest pain due to abrupt onset of extracardiac stimulation. Evaluation revealed competitive epicardial ventricular pacing due to automatic mode switch in a functionally abandoned abdominal generator that had reached elective replacement indicator. Explantation of redundant pacemaker generator resulted in complete resolution of symptoms. |
