To meet the need for wideband programmable transversal filter, we have been studying a new monolithic filter integrated in GaAs. The substrate is divided into a semi-insulated region bearing a SAW tapped delay line, and a semiconducting area incorporating electronic circuits. We present the results of the first phase of the project which has proved the soundness of the entire process. The influence of the substrate on the performance of the delay line and the deposition of piezoelectric ZnO film have been studied. And a 64-20 ns tap line was built. From the electronic point of view, the weighting circuits and output buffer amplifier were optimized and a 7-20 ns tap programmable filter was designed and built. It demonstrates a dynamic range in excess of 50 dB with no need for ZnO-film and a 2,5 mW power dissipation per tap. |
