Study of the 14C(τ, γ)17O radiative capture reaction from 3.2 to 7.5 MeV

Popis: The 14 C(τ, γ) 17 O radiative capture reaction has been studied for 3 He bombarding energies from 3.2 to 7.5 MeV, corresponding to excitation energies in the compound nucleus 17 O from 21.4 to 25.0 MeV. Absolute differential cross sections for the ground state and first excited state transitions have been measured. Both electric dipole (E1) and electric quadrupole (E2) radiations have been observed. Resonances in 17 O at excitation energies of 21.7±0.1, 22.1 ±0.1, 22.6±0.2, and 23.0±0.1 MeV have been found and assignments J π = 5 2 + , 7 2 − , 3 2 − , and 1 2 + ,respectively, have been determined. In addition, two more resonances at excitation energies of 23.5±0.1 and 24.4±0.1 MeV have been observed. These results are compared with other experiments.
