The insulation system of 100% cellulose paper and mineral oil is a proven, reliable and economical solution successfully used in distribution transformers for many decades. The insulating paper has tremendous leverage in the optimization of distribution transformers. Different regions of the transformer insulation system impose different requirements for the material being used in those regions. This work presents data on the development (engineering) of new special grades of 100% cellulose insulating paper. The tailored properties of these new papers aim to selectively address the set of application criteria for the insulation material in the different regions of a transformer. This tailoring provides new opportunities for the optimization of the design of the insulation system and the entire transformer. |
