Popis: Three learning processes are being studied: extinction, avoidance and generalization (EAG). On three consecutive days, participants will undergo an aversive conditioning task, each day followed by a task assessing one of the respective processes. A week later, fear of spiders is assessed, followed by a short exposure treatment in virtual reality. Fear of spiders is then reassessed after one week and after three months. The main aim of the current study is to investigate whether the EAG processes at T1 are predictive for the outcome of exposure therapy on fear of spiders, both in the short and long term.
