Popis: | The journal Tourism Economics was established in 1995. This article is a statistical report on the topics examined by tourism economists from the inception of the journal until now. The tables and the accompanying text are meant as a guide to research and not an overview of tourism economics as a subject, for which there are several textbooks available. To maintain a sense of objectivity, only articles that were awarded ‘best paper’ recognition are cited, so in the main the discussion focuses on the popularity of research themes and areas where further investigation would appear worthwhile. It is noted that in many cases a major obstacle has been the availability of data to progress the applied nature of the discipline. |
