Morphological organization of experimental arterial prosthesis, especially in the dog, is actually well known. However, a few aspects of this histogenesis remain in discussion and particularly the origin, nature, and completeness of inner endothelialization of the tube. Anyhow, in this respect, there is an evident discrepancy between different animal species and mankind and it is probable that in the latter case histological maturation is never achieved: even in dogs this point may be partially true. In fact, in a previous experimental work, we showed that even after a long time of implantation fibrinolytic substances were able to produce a more or less complete lysis of the inner surfaces of the tubes. This constatation was the starting point of the present work. |
