Popis: Food insecurity and malnutrition are currently among the most serious concerns for human health. As the world’s population continues to increase there is an increase demand for food. Since the total area for planting is not increasing we need to find an altrnative solution for food security that will meet the growing population demand which would reach about 9.9 billion by 2050, moreover, the crop loss due to the pests alone accounts for approximately 20%–40% of the total crop loss throughout the world. Whereas organic foods are produced using organic farming-with limited modern synthetic inputs, but the real question is that will organic farming meet the entire requirement regarding food security in the world. However, conventional plant breeding alone can no longer sustain the ever-rising global food demand. In this context, Agricultural biotechnology with modern plant biotechnological tools is proving to be a powerful alternative to conventional methods for meeting worldwide demand for quality food. Thus due to the possibilities offered by Genetically modified (GM) technology in this new century, we have got the solution that is unmatched and that will give the world food security in the coming years. By the application of GM foods we will meet the shortcomings in the productivity of the present time so that the future world is secure and safe regarding food. GM crops may well contribute towards the increase of both the quality and quantity of food production and also will increase the economic status of the farmers income. GM crops would give enormous benefits to the world if the moral obligation was measured in developing GM crops to battle the world against the food crisis. GM crops solely may not be able to solve the food production problem; it may form an essential part of achieving the goal. Several suitable policy and narrow frameworks are necessary to make sure that the needs of deprived farmers and customers are taken into account and that objectionable social consequences are avoided.
