The Amplitude-Magnitude (AM) method is used for the pole determination of the asteroid 511 Davida, using observations from six oppositions. The possible North poles are found to be λ 1 = 92° ± 7°; β 1 = 33° ± 6°, and λ 2 = 303° ± 4°; β 2 = 34° ± 5°, when scattering effect is not taken into account. When scattering is accounted for, solutions not significantly different from (λ 1 , β 1 ) and (λ 2 , β 2 ) are obtained. The moderately eccentric and inclined orbit of 511 Davida does not allow us to distinguish between the two pole solutions. A comparison with other methods is necessary in order to make a definitive choice. |
