Luminactive (luminescent and photoactive) mono and bimetallic complexes involving the ligand 3,5-bis(2′pyridyl)-1,2,4-triazole (Hbpt) and its deprotonated form have been studied. In the case of the monometallic complexes,RhH 2 (PPh 3 ) 2 H n bpt](PF 6 ) n (n=0 and 1), both display luminescence and undergo loss of H 2 at room temperature in ethanol. The bimetallic complex, (bpy) 2 Ru(bpt)RhH 2 (PPh 3 ) 2 2+ , undergoes photochemistry from a rhodium-based, ligand-field (LF) excited state and emission from a ruthenium-based metal-to-ligand charge-transfer (MLCT) excited state. These results will be compared to previous studies with other bridging ligands and discussed in terms of intramolecular energy transfer processes. |
