Popis: | In this paper, we present our continued development of an Eulerian two-fluid model to simulate multiphase water transport in the porous membrane, electrode and gas channel of the Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell (PEMFC). The model includes advanced flow physics relevant to fuel cell operation. The formulation allows incorporation of liquid gas drag models to capture the effect of phase segregation leading to formation of films and slugs in the flow channels. The porous media is modeled to include drag from the porous solid and capillary forces. Interactions between the liquid water and MEA electrochemistry with detailed Butler-Volmer kinetics are also implemented. Furthermore, the energy equation is integrated to facilitate evaluation of temperature distribution and its effect on water transport. Model capability is demonstrated by comparing with experimental and model data from the literature. |
