A geometrically extended version of the uniform geometrical theory of diffraction (UTD) was introduced. In its classical form the UTD was limited to canonically shaped scattering objects. It was shown that the surfaces can be described by parametric bicubic splines (PBS) and the diffracting edges by three dimensional parametric spline curves. The PBS allows a more realistic description of complex bodies of technical relevance. In order to verify the new simulation system rays of canonical bodies rebuilt by PBS are calculated and compared with results of the classical code. |
