The precipitation of intragranular M23C6 particles in 21Cr32Ni steel during high temperature creep was investigated using transmission electron microscopy. The strengthening effect of the particles was estimated and the results were compared with the internal stress values measured directly during creep. It was shown that the M23C6-precipitation-strengthening effect represents only a part of the total internal stress; the rest of the internal stress is due to the effect of dislocation strengthening. |
