Popis: | The endometrium, as with many mucosal tissues, consists of glandular, stromal, and vascular components. Recent research in various species has shown that the stromal component secretes mediators that affect various epithelial functions. More and more evidence is accumulating which suggests that specific soluble mediators secreted by stromal cells under steroid hormone influence participate in the mitogenic and differentiative responses of endometrial epithelia during normal adult reproductive life (Cunha et al. 1985, 1987; Bigsby and Cunha 1986; Brenner and Slayden 1994; Brenner et al. 1990). |
