Popis: When tested by topical application, the synthetic pyrethroids permethrin and fenvalerate were not as effective as azinphosmethyl in killing adults of Rhagoletis pomonella (Walsh). These materials along with methomyl, oxamyl, and endosulfan were subsequently tested in an orchard with a large apple maggot population. Fenvalerate at 0.125 and 0.063 g AI/liter, methomyl at 0.530 g AI/liter, and oxamyl at 0.295 g AI/liter were the best treatments in preventing apple maggot tunneling injury, although none of the treatments were as effective as the standard azinphosmethyl.
