Popis: Recently, the food and nutraceutical market has witnessed a renewed interest by health-conscious consumers towards plant-based, health-promoting ingredients. One of the fastest emerging trends in this regard includes processed flax and hempseeds. These ancient grains have a high content of edible and emollient oils, digestible proteins rich in the amino acids required in vegetarian and vegan diets, and essential polyunsaturated fatty acids such as alpha-linolenic acid. Cannabis legalization in various countries will allow the use of cannabidiol (CBD) from industrial hemp flowers and leaves for the formulation of medical and personal care products. Thousands of recent publications and a steep rise in sales support the claimed benefits of CBD in an array of physical and mental health conditions, including dermatitis, inflammation, chronic pain, and anxiety. The health benefits of cannabinoids will drive further the demand for hemp and flax ingredients already present in functional foods, medical and personal care products.
