Popis: | This article investigates the effectiveness of using asphaltic materials as binders in various vibration-absorbing formulations for transport equipment. The vibration absorption properties of the asphalts were determined on the basis of the vibrational energy loss factor at 21 + or - 1/sup 0/C over a frequency range of 70-1200 Hz. Vibrations in transport equipment are the greatest in the 100-1200 Hz frequency region. The high cost of vibration-absorbing polymeric materials and the complications involved in applying them to surfaces necessitate the search for bituminous materials that are competitive with polymeric materials in damping properties. It is concluded that straight bituminous materials can provide effective absorption in the frequency range 100-1200 Hz. |
