Bibliographic Analysis of Doctoral Level Thesis Studies in Science Education Domain in Turkey

Popis: The efforts to improve science education in schools and to create a positive attitude towards science were among the educational goals of the countries. An effective science education at the postgraduate level is required to raise individuals who know, apply, and are equipped with the innovations required by the age. An increase in the number and diversity of academic studies in recent years were observed in the field of education in Turkey. For this reason, it is important to examine the academic studies conducted in the field of science education at the higher education level. In this context made to the doctoral level in the field of science education in Turkey for the purpose of research thesis it has been studied. In this direction, he prepared on “science education” in Turkey between the years 2002-2019, 138 doctoral dissertations are examined using bibliographic research method. In the classification of thesis studies; The year it was published, the university it was published in, the institute it was published in, the research method, data analysis techniques, the gender of the researchers, the title of the consultant, the study group and the research subject were taken as basis. As a result of the research, it was determined that the theses between 2002-2019, which can be accessed in the thesis scanning center of the Council of Higher Education, were published in 2014 the most. It has been determined that the examined theses are mostly made in Gazi University. It was determined that mixed method was used the most as research method in theses, and the research group consisted of the most science teacher candidates. As the research subject of doctoral dissertations in the field of science education, it’s been determined that the number of studies on the nature of science is higher than other subjects.
