Electrochemical characterization of a series of substituted Dawson type tungstophosphates α[P2W18−xMozVyO62]n− (x = y + z; n = 6 + y)

Popis: | The electrochemical study of heteropolyanions α[P2W18−xMozVyO62]n− (x = y+z; n = 6 + y) have been performed in various acidic media. The analysis of the voltammograms of monosubstituted compounds is described and the reduction sites are identified. These observations are extended to the polysubstituted compounds. The electrochemical results are correlated with an ESR study performed at room temperature: the ESR spectra indicate that the unpaired electron is localised around Mo or V atoms in the monosubstituted compounds. In the other compounds, ESR spectra show that electron delocalization occurs when the paramagnetic MoV ion is surrounded by other MoVI ions. The number of atoms of Mo or V substituted and their position are discussed versus their redox properties. |
