Popis: — The equations describing concentration changes of cascading chemical intermediates after pulsed activation are discussed in terms of a matrix description of the entire unimolecular reaction sequence. Unidirectional unbranched and parallel branched cascades are treated in terms of relative pathway utilization. Qualitatively distinct kinetics are associated with these systems. Application to kinetic model selection for testing the bacteriorhodopsin photocycle is shown.
