In the article, based on archival materials and memoirs of contemporaries, the history of the visit to the Caucasus in 1847 of the founder of military field surgery, the famous scientist and practicing physician Nikolai Ivanovich Pirogov is reconstructed. A separate place in the article is given to the history of the spread of anesthesia during medical manipulations. The relationship of N.I. Pirogov with a personal doctor of the Caucasian governor Erast Andreevsky, who headed the civilian medicine administration in the Caucasus. Separate attention is paid to surgical operations and their perception among soldiers and officers of the Separate Caucasian Corps. In addition, the author pays attention to the projects of N.I. Pirogov concerning the device of medical service in the troops. Thanks to the trip of N.I. Pirogov to the Caucasus it became possible to remove the restrictions on ether using, imposed by the Minister of Internal Affairs before. |
