Effects of oxygen adsorption on the low energy Auger spectrum of α-CuAl(100) alloys

Popis: The Auger spectra of Cu(100), Al(100) and α-CuAl(100) alloys with 12% and 17% aluminium bulk concentrations were measured in the 35–80 eV energy range for the clean and oxidized surfaces at room temperature. Based on these measurements the effect of alloying and oxidation on the Cu(M 23 VV) and Al(LVV) Auger lines is assessed. Also the possibility of aluminium clustering on the alloy surfaces is considered. For the 17% Al alloy, the effect of controlled oxidation on the Auger spectrum in the 35–80 eV range was studied.
