Popis: | The inhibiting action of Cassia italica on the decay of carbon steel (CS) used in cooling towers in 0.5 M sulphuric acid has been examined by gravimetric method, and electrochemical techniques in addition to surface characterization by different techniques. The inhibition efficiency (%IE) increases with the increase in dose of extract and the temperature. The adsorption of this plant extract on the CS follows the Langmuir adsorption isotherm. Potentiodynamic polarization signified that extract behaves as mixed-type inhibitor. Potassium iodide (KI) was added to extract solution in order to increase (%IE) by synergistic effect between metal surface and extract component. Microbiology activity was also carried out to revise the effect of plant extract on bacteria growth in cooling tower. |
