Popis: The conjoint treatment of patients with physical illnesses represents a challenge for psycho- somatic consultation-liaison ser- vice associates in particular with regard to shortened inpatient stays. The therapeutic access via the lead- ing-affects such as anger, anxiety and mourning is a valuable help in the search for psychodynamically effective forces dealing with cur- rently triggered-off conflicts. The leading-affect anxiety can appear in phobic or counter-phobic form. The patient's body becomes a source of anxiety and no longer functions as a protective space. Working with images, dreams, myths and symbols represents a creative method of facing actual re- ality via internal images and cre- ates sufficient distance to it at the same time. In this way the patient's complex inner world of experi- ences can become more tangible and encourage a process of growth.
