Popis: The amplitudes of shear waves transmitted across interfaces between granite samples during forced frictional sliding show a distinct difference between stable sliding and stick-slip movement. When the sliding is stable, the shear-wave amplitude decreases gradually and continuously. During stick-slip movement along the interfaces, a rapid decrease in shear wave amplitude occurs before or at the sudden slip of the interfaces. The changes in shear-wave amplitude during sliding and stick-slip events reflect the changes in the specific stiffness of the fracture.
