The Evaluation of Problem Areas of the Educational Associations in Turkey

Popis: Associations are very common form of an organization of civil society. Associations are to be preferred especially because of their establishing facilities and domain widths. Associations that have a deep-rooted history have been existed in PreRepublic and after Republic and increased their domain areas. Related to this, the number of associations especially educational associations are increasing in all areas of the social life, especially in the educational area. The purpose of this study is to investigate and evaluate the problem areas of the educational associations in our country. Seventeen educational associations in Çorum and Kırıkkale were the working group of the research. Interview technique of qualitative research methods were used and 20 administrators and members of associations were interwieved. Furthermore, the functions and problems of educational associations are emphasized by observing in associations’ own places. The description and historical development of associations are discussed not only in terms of history but also in terms of Turkey specifically. According to conclusions of the research, education associations have a quick development process in Turkey but some problems are observed at various areas. These problem areas ranged as, especially economy, relations with the state, social support and non-communication. Moreover, it has been concluded that workings of associations are not systematic, effective communication and coordination doesn’t exist among both members of association and other associations
