| Popis: | Introduction: Medical staff working with patients suffering from mental disorders is faced with high demands of the medical profession as well as withnumerous stress factors in everyday work. Symptoms of depression and anxiety can negatively affect quality of life of the medical staff, which may lead to a reduction in the quality of nursing care. The aim: The aim of this paper was to determine levels of depression and anxiety among nurses/technicians working with patients suffering from mental disorders, their quality of life, as well as difference in the socio-demographic characteristics among those who work and do not work with psychiatric patients. Material and methods: The research was carried out at the Clinical Center in Kragujevac, after obtaining permission of the Ethics Committee, and was conducted according to the principles of Good Clinical Practice. The research was conducted as a cross sectional study that included 80 nurses/technicians classified in two groups: nurses/technicians working with mentally ill patients (n=40) and nurses/ technicians from the Internal and Infectious Clinic (n=40). Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) and the Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI) were used to assess level of depression and anxiety of the nurses/technicians, respectively. EQ-5D scale was used to assess quality of life, and impact of the socio-demographic factors was examined with a socio-demographic questionnaire.
