The current state of the ichthyological collection of the Museo de La Salle (MLS), at the Universidad de la Salle in Bogotá is presented. The study includes a historic perspective of the process of formation of the MLS collections, and contributions carried out by the Museo de La Salle to the ichthyological investigation of the country. More than 6400 marine and continental fish specimens were revised. The taxonomic listing of the fish collection made by the MLS contains 24 orders, 73 families and 113 genera, representing the five basins regions of Colombia (Amazonas, Caribbean, Magdalena-Cauca, Orinoco and Pacific). |
