In the following paper we study, from a prosopographical point of view, the military carreer developed at the beginning of the High Empire, serving in the ala Tauriana and in the cohors Germanorum, by Q. Sempronius Vitulus, born in the hispano-roman city of Los Bañales de Uncastillo (Hispania Citerior). He and his father, L. Sempronius, are remarkable examples of the role of the Roman army in the integration of the indigenous and local elite in Roman society and of the leadership of that local elite in the monumentalization and development of their cities. |
