Personalised medicines has become increasingly important in the future of healthcare. Promises have been made of essential reductions in healthcare expenditure alongside improvements in the effi cacy and safety of treatment that will be tailored to the specifi c needs of each individual. As a critical fi rst step in the development of personalised medicine, traditional disease classifi cations will need to be reevaluated, diagnosis will increasingly focus on integrating information from multiple sources, not only genomics and other omics technologies, but also environmental and life-style data. Personalised medicines for our citizen – toward more precise medicine for the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of diseases. |
