Popis: The main purpose of this work was to evaluate different synthetic or natural membranes for in vitro release of cosmetic actives with proven anticellulitic activity. Caffeine and triethanolamonium iodide were used incorporated within porous microspheres dispersed in an emulsion. Two commercial membranes were used, one made of cellulose and another of collagen. Skin from pig’s ear was used as a natural membrane. Commercial membranes were characterized by environmental scanning electronic microscopy and the kinetics tests were performed using a vertical Franz cell in order to quantify simultaneously the release of both anticellulitic actives. The release profiles obtained using the three different membranes, indicate the possibility of using a commercial celulose membrane instead of a natural one made of pig’s ear skin for in vitro cosmetic actives permeation.
