Popis: Everyday life in mental institutions in nineteenth century Mexico was conducted by specific regulations made for this kind of hospitals. Using six different documents we will try to compare and reconstruct how mental patients were living in the San Roque Mental Hospital for women from 1834 until 1895. The Porfirio Díaz regime brought a positivist point of view to medicine which included the new theories of treatment to patients introduced by Phillipe Pinel in 1802 who claimed that moral treatment was the only way to mental health recovery
