The problem of a strong insurance market forming is essential for national economy for solving its problems. Insurance companies, providing their services through insurance coverage, reduce the financial risk of the entities and generate significant amounts of investment resources to finance the national economy. However, without clarity and transparency of insurers’ activity there is not the confidence from the insured to them. Therefore, the issue of transparency, as a subject of research, and its impact on the national insurance market caused the goal setting and illustrated the topic of this article. The goal of the article is grounding of theoretical principles of concept disclosure of the insurers’ transparency and its impact on the national insurance market’s development. In the research process the following methods were used: systematic approach, theoretical generalization and comparison, analysis and synthesis. Describing the concept of transparency and examining its impact on the national insurance market it could be said that the insurance company provides transparency of disclosure about its activities and financial results, the insurance rates formation and so on. But insufficient level of insurance culture of the most insurance services’ consumers severely limits the use and development of insurance coverage mechanisms. Therefore, to ensure the right of financial services’ consumers and information transparency it would be appropriate to introduce compulsory disclosure of general information about the insurance companies’ activities and their financial performance. Creation of a specialized web-site will contribute to transparency improving in the insurance market, for example through the magazine Insurance Top, in order to inform citizens about insurers, insurance brokers, the prices and terms of individual insurance for prerequisites informed choice policyholders of insurance service providers and sellers on a competitive basis. |
