Objective: To explore the clinical efficacy of valsartan combined with hydrochlorothiazide in the treatment of elderly hypertension. Methods: A total of 150 elderly patients with primary hypertension who were admitted in our hospital from January, 2015 to January, 2016 were included in the study and randomized into the observation group and the control group. The patients in the control group were given valsartan, 80 mg/time, 1 time/d. On this basis, the patients in the observation group were given additional hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg/time, 1 time/d. The patients in the two groups were administered with drugs in the morning. Six-month treatment was regarded as one course. The change of 24 h ambulatory blood pressure before and after treatment was detected, and the efficacy was evaluated. The heart color ultrasound was used to detect LVM and LVMI before and after treatment in the two groups.
