SOME PROBLEMS OF A SIMPLE AFFIRMATIVE SENTENCE IN MODERN ENGLISH

Popis: Purpose: to give summarizing but only theoretical description of the problem. The actuality of the theme of research is determined by that important significance which is given to studying of this problem in modern linguistics. Methodology: The main method used in the article is descriptive. Results: A simple affirmative sentence in the English language is considered first of all as a communicative unit on the bases of the method of actual division in this article. The authors also state that different types of theme and rheme are used in the English language. The changes of the order of words are important for expression of rheme. Practical implications: The results of this work can be used for elaboration of more improved methods of analysis and estimation of separate speech works and also in teaching of not only foreign but native languages. Conclusions. 1. Changes in the order of words are possible in the English language but in certain grammatical constructions. 2. There are different possibilities of expression of the theme: double and complex. 3. There are also complex forms of the rheme in the English language, but they don’t have the same positional expression. 4. Sentences with «it» and «there» in the English language have complex structures of the theme and rheme.
