IN-SERVICE EDUCATION: QUALIFICATION OF THE NURSING TEAM ON WOUNDS TREATMENT

Popis: | This study aimed to identify the knowledge of medium-level nursing personnel on wounds treatment, beforeand after in-service education activities. It was developed in a large hospital in November 2008, and 39 professionals whoattended the meetings of in-service education joined the study. The study was conducted in three stages: application ofa questionnaire; in-service education, and reapplication of the questionnaire. After this, a quantitative analysis wasperformed using the chi-square test. 81% of participants answered correctly before and 100% after the in-service educationactivity about the signs of inflammation, About the correct cleaning of a wound, 74% cited correctly before and 87% afterde education in-service activity. Regarding factors that delay healing, 29% answered correctly before the meeting and 68%after. We concluded the importance of education in service to update the nurses’ knowledge, leading to reduced risk ofiatrogenic complications, and promoting higher quality of care to users. |
