Ebû Ibrahim Ismail's Relations With Karahanlis and Gaznavids in the Context of His Efforts to Revive the Samani State

Popis: Samani Sultanate, which ruled in Transoxiana and Khorasan region, was originated from Saman Hudat. According to some vievs (historians), their roots was based on Behram Çubın. Samani Sultanate appeared in history by Esed, the son of Saman Hüdad, and his four sons in transoxiana region. One of Esed’s sons, Ahmed was appointed as the governor of Fergana in the period of Me’mun the Caliph. With the early death of Nuh, who was the governor of Semerkand, his brother, Ahmed was appointed as the governer of Semerkand. Taking his father’s throne in Semerkand, Nasr (Nasr b. Ahmed become the independent leader of Transoxiana region. Then, Nasr assigned his brother İsmail to Bukhara. With the death of Nasr in 279/892, İsmail became the ruler of Transoxiana region. Centered in Bukhara, this state continued to live until Karahanli ruler İlik Khan entered the capital and made an end of the state in 389/999. After İlik Khan entered Bukhara, he took Abdülmelik with the prominent people of Samani Dynasty to Özkent and put them in jail. A member of Samani Dynasty, Ebû İbrahim İsmail escaped from Özkent and came to Bukhara, and went to Harizm region from Bukhara. With the army he gathered from Harizm region, he aimed to revive the Samani Sultanate. İn this study, these activities of Ebû İbrahim were handled. His relations with Ziyaris, Gaznavids and Karahanlis during his efforts to revive his state and the reasons why he couldn’t build his state were tried to research.
