Judicial and Socio-Educational Intervention in Young Offenders At Detention Centers. A Preliminary Overview

Popis: Crime committed by women has experienced significant variations in recent years. It is a small number of women minors who commit offenses that lead to a prison-sentence, and so, they have generated very little social or scientific attention. Nevertheless, this is a very vulnerable population, often overlooked in the academic and institutional spheres. After brief historical mention of some of the interventions that have sought to correct the conduct of these women who deviated from the socially and culturally assigned role, we describe the present-day situation of young offenders of Spain. We examine the implementation of the law of criminal responsibility of minors, noting the most relevant issues and gender-related discrimination that becomes evident when –in contexts of the prison and in socio-educational performance– there are sanctions that it would be appropriate to eliminateDOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.5377/rpsp.v3i1.1332
