College Students’ Perceptions about Teaching Practices, Classroom Behaviors and Attitudes of the Faculty Members

Popis: The purpose of this study is to investigate college students’ perceptions about teachingpractices, classroom behaviors and attitudes of the faculty member and measurementand evaluation practices in the faculty. The sample of the study is composed of 642students (F=343, M=299) attending to one of the eleven undergraduate programs inthe School of Education at Inonu University, Malatya, Turkey. In order to gather dataabout students’ perceptions, a questionnaire was developed by the authors. To analyzethe data, frequency, percentile, and Chi Square analyses were employed. Findings ofthe research indicate that, students’ perceptions about faculty members’ behaviors,their teaching practices, and measurement and evaluation practices in the faculty arenegative in general. Therefore students’ views seem to vary according to grade-level,program, and type of teaching program (daytime or evening). Findings of the studywere discussed in the light of the related literature and some suggestions were offered.
