Popis: A child with hearing impaired is an important source of stress for parents, whom are challenged to cope with this condition. This situation may be influenced by parents social support perception. The current study aims to set the relation between stress level, coping strategies and perceived social support of mothers with a child with hearing impairment. Sixty-eight mothers responded to the Parental Stress Index, the Coping Strategies Questionnaire, and the Social Support Questionnaire. A Path Analysis Model was used to explore relations between stress, coping strategies, social support, and sociodemographic data. Findings point out that mothers educational level and working status tend to show lower stress levels, and higher perceived social support and coping strategies.
